I am a Bangalorean, residing in Santa Clarita, California for 7 years. I am a clinical research professional. After a couple of years of taking my kids to kannada kali, I have embarked on the teaching journey. Research has shown that multi-linguistic kids become more effective communicators since they are exposed to diverse social experiences. I love being around kids and hope to impart our kannada language and heritage to these young developing minds.
I have been involved with VKK for many years. My love for Kannada has increased from the time I became a teacher. I focus on teaching kids how to use technology to boost Kannada learning – using translation tools that translate texts and websites to understand concepts and vocabulary in context, watch videos on YouTube about Kannada culture/poems/ songs, and using Kannada keyboard on smart phone or on the internet.
I feel learning Kannada makes kids develop connection to Karnataka, creates a stronger sense of identity, and opens doors for the children to build relationships and engage with our many family members in India. I love the well-thought-out curriculum we teach – they are simple and relevant.
I am from Bangalore and grew up in a very traditional family where "Bhashabhimana and Deshabhimana" was taught to us since kids.
Growing up in such environment instilled love and respect towards our language, and I was very happy to have crossed paths with Kannada Kali when I moved to the US and got to know about this self-less group of people wanting to teach Kannada and keep the community strong for future generations.
I have been associated with valley Kannada Kali since 2022. It brings me immense joy and inspiration to teach Kannada to the kids and hope this community grows bigger and stronger in the coming days.
Kannada is my mother language and I studied in Kannada till 10th. I have a big passion for Kannada and I would like Kannada to reach high level and would like to contribute whatever I can to grow . I have been a teacher for Valley Kannada Kali for the last 10 years. It has been a great being teacher. I hope Kannada will reach higher level.
I am a hardcore Kannadiga born and brought up in “Namma Bengaluru”. When I had two kids - I was determined to extend this love of Kannada to both my kids too and started teaching and communicating with them in Kannada from Day -1. It helped in a big way. They responded well too. As kids grew and stepped out for school I noticed they were surrounded by only English speaking friends and I wanted them to have their own set of Kannada friends which brought me to “Valley Kannada Kali”. As I got to know more about this selfless community, I wanted to extend my service and share the love of Kannada by teaching to next generation of kids growing here in Los Angeles. I thoroughly enjoy teaching the tiny tots to lay a strong foundation of Kannada language in them.
My association with VKK started 4 years back when I enrolled my kid in Swara-Balla 1. This is my 3rd year as a teacher, and having this opportunity to teach has been a great experience. I am very happy to contribute in my own small way to our Kannada language.
Knowing to speak, read and write in Kannada makes you a Kannadiga...and I love being part of that journey…
ಕನ್ನಡ, ರೋಮಾಂಚನವೀ ಕನ್ನಡ ಹಾಡಿಸು, ಕೇಳಿಸು, ಪ್ರೀತಿಸು...
I have been involved with Valley Kannada Kali since 2019 when my daughter started with her Swaraballa 1 class. I grew up in a conservative traditional kannada speaking family in Malleswaram Bangalore. My mother is a teacher who taught both in schools and home as a tutor. This provided me with very early exposure to the values of learning, teaching and grace. This is something that resonated with me when I saw the commitment and passion from the volunteer VKK teachers and administrators to advance the kannada language through the young hearts and minds of our children. This inspired me to become a VKK teacher myself and hope I can do justice to it. ಕನ್ನಡ ಉಳಿಸಿ ಬಳಸಿ ಬೆಳಸಿ.
Thank you - Kumar
I have been teaching kannada for 3 years after graduating kannada kali. I have grown up with this amazing kannada community around me and I love giving back through teaching the newer generation of kannada kali kids. Throughout my kannada kali journey I have made so many new unforgettable relationships that I cherish even now. I am so grateful for VKK. Thank you!
